Renewable Energy Development

Torch entered the renewable energy business in 2007 with the formation of Torch Renewable Energy, LLC (“Torch Renewable”). Torch Renewable is a developer of wind energy projects in the United States. Please see www.torchwind.com for more information. Torch Renewable aspires to be a leading environmental steward while maximizing project value for our stakeholders. Torch Renewable leverages the industry knowledge of the company’s development team and the transactional experience of TEAI to select, evaluate, and develop the most promising sites for utility-scale wind farms.  The company’s focus is long term; Torch Renewable builds strong relationships with landowner partners, financial institutions, and utilities.

To date, Torch Renewable has strategically chosen to focus development efforts on the Mid Atlantic, Midwestern and Southwestern United States given the attractive wind resource in these areas. Torch Renewable has 90,000 acres of land under lease in seven states for eleven projects under development representing more than 1,200 megawatts of potential generating capacity. Torch Renewable begins the development process by evaluating potential sites for sufficient wind resource, local infrastructure capability, electricity grid interconnection availability, and land ownership status. Torch Renewable is actively seeking development partners in the Southwestern and Midwestern United States.
